The Meteorological Department of Pakistan has issued a fresh advisory forecasting a new wave of monsoon rains expected to impact various parts of the country from July 16 to 21. According to the advisory, monsoon winds originating from the Arabian Sea will begin affecting Pakistan from Tuesday onwards, bringing widespread rainfall.

 

Key Predictions by Region:

 

Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Central and South Punjab: Rains expected from July 17 to 20, with thunderstorms likely in South Punjab from July 17 to 19.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rainfall forecasted from July 16 to 21.

Balochistan: Dry and humid conditions except for northeastern regions expecting rain from July 17 to 19.

Karachi, Umerkot, Mithi: Rain forecasted on July 18-19.

Gilgit-Baltistan: Rain expected from July 17 to 21.

Azad Kashmir: Rainfall anticipated from July 16 to 21.

The advisory also highlighted potential risks:

 

Increased water flow could lead to urban flooding in Sindh and Punjab on July 18-19.

Risk of landslides in hilly areas due to heavy rains.

Authorities are urged to take precautions to mitigate flood and landslide risks, while residents in affected areas are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary safety measures.

 

This upcoming spell of monsoon rains is expected to bring relief from the summer heat and replenish water sources. However, vigilance and preparedness are crucial in managing the associated risks during this period.
