Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, paid an official visit to Bahrain, meeting with the kingdom's top civil and military leadership to strengthen defence ties and regional security collaboration.

According to a press release issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Pakistan Navy), Admiral Ashraf engaged in high-level discussions with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The talks focused on deepening defence cooperation and reinforcing the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Bahrain.

King Hamad lauded the Pakistan Navy’s vital role in promoting regional maritime security and stability.

During his visit, Admiral Ashraf also met with Bahrain Defence Force Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, National Guard Commander General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and Royal Bahrain Naval Force Commander Rear Admiral Ahmed Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Binali.

Key discussions revolved around mutual interests, including enhancing regional maritime security and fostering bilateral defence collaboration. Admiral Ashraf emphasised the significance of joint military exercises, exchange programmes, and mutual visits to strengthen the bonds between the armed forces of both nations.

As part of his itinerary, the naval chief visited the Royal Bahrain Naval Force ship MANAMA and delivered an address at the Royal Command and Staff College. He provided insights into the evolving security dynamics in the Indian Ocean Region and underscored the importance of a cooperative, region-centric maritime security framework.

The visit is expected to further cement the defence partnership between Pakistan and Bahrain, paving the way for enhanced collaboration in maritime security and stability.
