Pakistan has once again raised concerns about cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan, appealing to the United Nations (UN) for cooperation to counter the growing threat.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is currently in New York for a high-level meeting of the UN Security Council, met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to discuss key regional security concerns and Pakistan’s role in global peacekeeping efforts.
Pakistan’s Stance on Key Issues at the UN
During his meeting with Guterres, Dar emphasized the urgent need for international collaboration to address security threats emanating from Afghanistan.
“There is concern over cross-border terrorism from Kabul, and the cooperation of the United Nations is essential to eliminate terrorism in the region,” he stated.
The UN Secretary-General acknowledged Pakistan’s role in UN peacekeeping missions and its continued participation in multilateral diplomacy.
Ishaq Dar also spoke on the Kashmir issue, reaffirming that a just resolution in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions is necessary for lasting peace in South Asia.
He also strongly condemned Israeli aggression in Palestine, reiterating Pakistan’s support for a two-state solution.
