Pakistan showcased its rising squash talent at the 32nd Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships as four players advanced to the finals in various categories on Friday.
In the Boys U13 category, top seed Muhammad Sohail Adnan continued his impressive run, defeating India’s Amarya Bajaj in straight sets — 11-5, 11-1, 11-2 — to book his place in the final. He will now face another Indian, Ayyan Dhanuka, for the title.
On the girls’ side, Mahnoor Ali produced a strong performance against Malaysia’s Maisarah Binti Khairulnizam, securing a convincing win with scores of 11-7, 11-5, 11-7. She will now take on Yin Z. of China in the final.
In the Boys U15 division, the final will feature two Pakistanis, guaranteeing a gold medal for the country. Ahmed Rayyan Khalil dominated Yuen Tsz Kong of Hong Kong with an 11-8, 11-2, 11-1 victory, while top seed Nauman Khan powered past India’s Aryaman Singh, winning 11-5, 11-1, 11-5.
However, in the Boys U19 semi-final, Pakistan’s Abdullah Nawaz fell short against Jooyoung Na of South Korea. Despite a strong effort, Nawaz was outplayed 3-1 in a match that ended with scores of 11-7, 10-12, 11-2, 11-4.
The Pakistan Squash Federation took to social media to congratulate the finalists, stating:
“Best of luck to our finalists! May they bring gold medals to Pakistan!”
The performances underscore Pakistan's continued legacy in squash, with young athletes proving their mettle on the international stage once again.
The finals are scheduled for tomorrow, and all eyes will be on the green shirts as they chase glory in Gimcheon.
