The 13th Pakistan-US bilateral joint military exercise, titled ‘Inspired Gambit 2026’, has officially commenced with a strong focus on counterterrorism cooperation, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two-week-long exercise began on Friday and is being conducted at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi. Professional contingents from the armies of Pakistan and the United States are participating in the exercise.
ISPR said officials from both countries attended the opening ceremony, highlighting the importance both sides attach to continued military collaboration. The exercise is designed to enhance mutual understanding and interoperability through the exchange of counterterrorism experiences and operational knowledge.
“The exercise aims to further refine tactics, techniques and procedures essential for effective counterterrorism operations,” the statement said. Special emphasis is being placed on marksmanship skills during urban warfare, as well as understanding each other’s operational doctrines and best practices.
The military’s media wing termed the joint drills as being of vital importance, noting that such engagements help address evolving security challenges and improve professional military standards. ISPR added that the exercise will also strengthen the capacity of both forces to operate effectively in complex counterterrorism environments.
‘Inspired Gambit 2026’ reflects the continued commitment of Pakistan and the United States towards collaborative efforts for peace and stability, reinforcing defence ties between the two countries amid regional and global security challenges.
