Pakistan, World Liberty Financial Sign MoU for Digital Payments Innovation

Pakistan and World Liberty Financial have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting innovation in digital payments and strengthening the country’s digital financial ecosystem.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, and other senior government officials.

A delegation from World Liberty Financial USA, led by its Chief Executive Officer Zachary Witkoff, also met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the occasion.

During the meeting, the prime minister briefed the delegation on the government’s Digital Pakistan vision, emphasising that digital connectivity, transparency, and public access were among the top priorities of his administration.

“Digital payments and financial innovation are essential components of a modern digital economy,” the prime minister said, adding that the growing global interest in Pakistan’s digital financial markets was a positive sign. He noted that Pakistan was increasingly becoming part of the global digital finance network.

World Liberty Financial CEO Zachary Witkoff expressed keen interest in working with Pakistan to develop a secure and transparent digital payment infrastructure. He highlighted potential cooperation in areas such as cross-border settlement systems, foreign exchange acquisition, and modern payment processing mechanisms.

The MoU is expected to pave the way for collaboration in financial technology, support regulatory innovation, and strengthen Pakistan’s position in the evolving global digital economy.
