PK-79 Peshawar Election Petition Dismissed, Jalal Khan Victory Confirmed

The Election Tribunal has dismissed the election petition filed by PTI candidate Taimur Saleem Jhagra challenging the victory of PML-N’s Jalal Khan in PK-79 Peshawar.

Taimur Saleem Jhagra had sought to nullify Jalal Khan’s victory, alleging rigging and claiming that under Form 45 he had won with a significant majority, while Jalal Khan was declared successful under Form 47. Jhagra also stated that his application to the Returning Officer had been rejected, prompting him to approach the Election Tribunal.

During the proceedings, the lawyer representing PML-N argued that the petition contained multiple legal discrepancies, including errors such as the incorrect spelling of the petitioner’s father’s name. Under election rules, all details in a petition must be correctly filed, and these lapses rendered the petition technically invalid.

After reviewing the submissions, the tribunal dismissed the petition on technical grounds and confirmed Jalal Khan’s election victory as valid.

This verdict concludes the legal challenge in PK-79 Peshawar, reaffirming the PML-N candidate’s mandate.
