POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing the National Assembly session chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, lauded Pakistan’s armed forces for their immediate and strong response to India’s cross-border attack, saying the enemy “tried to strike in darkness, but our forces turned it into moonlight.”
The Prime Minister began by paying tribute to martyrs of the attack, including women and children, praying for the elevation of their ranks and calling them “heroes of Pakistan.”
“India made a dirty attempt to attack Pakistan in the darkness of the night, but our forces responded with unmatched bravery and professionalism. India came to its senses,” said PM Shehbaz, drawing applause and desk-thumping from both treasury and opposition benches.
The Prime Minister said India attacked six cities, including Bahawalpur, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and areas of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, using 80 aircraft, including Rafale jets. In a proud moment, he stated, Pakistan Air Force shot down multiple Indian aircraft, including the advanced Rafale, without violating international borders.
“Our eagles remained within their territory but shot down Indian jets with precision. The world witnessed our professionalism,” he added.
🔹 Response to Pahalgam Incident
Referring to the Pahalgam attack in India, PM Shehbaz reiterated that Pakistan had no connection to the incident and had offered full cooperation in an impartial investigation.
“India didn’t even condemn the loss of innocent lives in Pakistan. They mocked our pain,” he said, calling India’s reaction to the April 22 tragedy “heartless.”
He emphasized that India had a pattern of fabricating false narratives and pointed to a recent train hijacking in Balochistan, where evidence suggested Indian involvement.
🔹 National Unity and Call for Support
Echoes of “Pakistan Zindabad” resonated in the Parliament during his speech, reflecting national unity in the face of external threats.
The Prime Minister concluded his address with an appeal to the PTI and opposition parties to unite in strengthening the nation.
“Let’s make Pakistan great. Yesterday was a day of victory gifted by Allah. Let us honor the sacrifice of our martyrs,” he declared.
After finishing his speech, the Prime Minister left the House, with members across the aisle expressing support and admiration for the response of the armed forces.
