POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has accused the government of deliberately delaying negotiations, asserting that if the government had shared its response earlier, PTI would have considered it.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Gohar criticized the government’s approach, stating that despite PTI's efforts to engage in dialogue, the authorities failed to respond in a timely manner.
Government’s Lack of Commitment
🔹 "The government had committed to responding in the committee room on January 28. If they were serious, they would have shared their response earlier," Gohar remarked.
🔹 He emphasized that PTI had demanded the formation of a judicial commission, but the government ignored their request.
🔹 "They don’t want negotiations to succeed," he added.
Legal Developments & PTI’s Stance
Regarding PTI’s November 26 case, Gohar mentioned that Judge Zeba Chaudhry—a permanent judge—was overseeing the matter and had set a new date for proceedings.
✅ He expressed confidence in a lawful resolution of the case, stating that the legal process will move forward fairly.
✅ "Big names don’t matter. No one is above the law, and the court will determine if a case is valid," he affirmed.
Clarification on Alleged Meetings
Responding to speculations about PTI’s interactions with top military officials, Barrister Gohar denied meeting anyone except Army Chief General Asim Munir.
The statements highlight PTI’s growing frustration with the government’s reluctance to engage in meaningful political dialogue, raising concerns about the country’s political future.
