PTI Faces Backlash After Invitation to Indian Minister Jaishankar for Protest

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party is facing significant backlash following a controversial invitation extended by senior leader Barrister Saif to Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, urging him to join ongoing protests in Pakistan. Speaking on two private news channels, Barrister Saif claimed that Jaishankar's participation would symbolize a push for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan, suggesting that a strong Pakistan would lead to improved relations with India.

The invitation has drawn severe criticism on social media, with analysts describing it as an unusual move that could fuel instability in the country. Critics argue that inviting representatives from what has historically been viewed as an adversarial neighbor exposes a potential conspiracy behind PTI’s protests. Experts have labeled this as a desperate plea for foreign involvement, illustrating the lengths to which PTI may go to achieve its objectives.

In response to the controversy, PTI Chairman Gohar Khan quickly distanced the party from Barrister Saif's comments. He clarified that no foreign officials, including Jaishankar, were invited to participate in the protests, labeling Saif's statement as taken out of context. Gohar reiterated that PTI's stance on India has remained unchanged over the past 27 years, stating, "Pakistan's 70-year policy towards India is the backbone of PTI's policy."

The PTI Chairman emphasized that their struggle is inherently internal, rejecting any notion of foreign interference in their political agenda. He underscored the constitutional right of Pakistanis to engage in peaceful protests while firmly stating that no foreign entities would be involved in PTI's political struggle.

This incident highlights the delicate balance of Pakistan's political landscape, where relations with India remain a contentious topic. As the PTI navigates its political ambitions, the implications of such statements will undoubtedly be scrutinized by both supporters and detractors alike.
