Rana Sanaullah Warns PTI of Potential Jail Transfer for Imran Khan Amid Adiala Protests

Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday warned that if PTI continues its permanent protests outside Adiala Jail, the government may consider transferring Imran Khan to another prison facility. He emphasized that the ongoing demonstrations could escalate law and order concerns if not addressed.

Speaking on Geo Pakistan, Sanaullah criticized PTI and Imran Khan for directly targeting state institutions and noted that the public would not accept propaganda against national bodies. He also accused Imran Khan of supporting India through certain statements, referring to India as Pakistan’s enemy country.

No Room for Deadlock

The advisor stated that attempts to dialogue with PTI in the past have failed, creating a deadlock largely due to Imran Khan’s own remarks. “PTI should not disturb law and order outside Adiala. If protests become a permanent feature, the government may think about transferring Imran Khan to any jail,” he said.

Sanaullah suggested a possible way out, urging PTI and Imran Khan to publicly express disinterest in the May 9 events and apologize for past statements. “If Imran Khan sticks to his previous statements, the deadlock will continue,” he added.

Calls for Political Dialogue

The advisor also highlighted the stance of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, describing him as a proponent of political understanding and dialogue. He noted that even DG ISPR had emphasized that political parties should engage with each other to maintain stability.

Sanaullah’s remarks come amid increasing tension between PTI supporters and law enforcement at Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is currently confined. Authorities have expressed concerns that repeated protests could lead to further unrest if measures are not taken.
