Rangers Inspector Martyred in Shaheed Benazirabad Armed Robbery

A Rangers inspector was martyred after being shot and injured by two armed robbers on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:30pm on Qazi Ahmed Road as Inspector Shariq Khan was en route to Nawabshah City in a Potohar Jeep to deposit cash.

 

According to a statement from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shaheed Benazirabad, Inspector Khan was ambushed by the robbers who opened fire upon spotting him. The inspector was critically injured in the gunfire and was transported to the PMC Hospital Nawabshah for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

 

The robbers, who were also involved in a separate theft, stole Rs410,000 in cash from a citizen during the attack. Nawabshah Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tanveer Tunio confirmed that the suspects have been arrested and the stolen cash has been recovered.

 

In response to the incident, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has expressed deep condolences and paid tribute to the martyred inspector. Naqvi highlighted that Inspector Khan achieved the highest rank of martyrdom while fulfilling his duties, and praised his bravery and commitment.

 

The attack underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement personnel in their line of duty and highlights the need for continued vigilance and support for security forces.
