Shahbaz Sharif, Iranian President Discuss Ceasefire and Regional Stability

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian held a significant meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Shusha, Azerbaijan, where the two leaders discussed the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation and regional peace efforts.

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed progress on previously agreed initiatives, expressing satisfaction over the strides made in bilateral collaboration across various sectors.

The meeting also touched on the tense regional situation following Israeli aggression in the Middle East. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif commended Iran’s decision to declare a ceasefire, describing it as a bold and wise move that reflects a commitment to regional de-escalation and peace.

“President Peshkeshian’s leadership during this challenging time is commendable,” Shahbaz Sharif said.

President Peshkeshian thanked Pakistan for its consistent diplomatic support, especially during the recent crisis. Both leaders reiterated the importance of continued coordination on regional and international forums.

In a symbolic gesture of solidarity, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif conveyed his good wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader, reaffirming Pakistan’s desire to deepen brotherly ties with Iran.

The meeting is being viewed as a positive step in enhancing Pakistan-Iran relations and a firm stance in favor of regional peace.
