Shehbaz, Erdogan, Aliyev Unite to Reject Conflict at Trilateral Summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, regional unity, and mutual cooperation at the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit held in Baku.

Speaking at the summit, PM Shehbaz emphasized that the world is confronting numerous challenges such as armed conflicts, climate change, disease outbreaks, and economic instability. “This is why the three of us have assembled here today, opting for compassion while rejecting conflict,” the prime minister said. He expressed optimism that wisdom and unity will pave the way to global peace and prosperity.

Thanking President Aliyev for the warm hospitality and his unwavering support, PM Shehbaz stated that the summit symbolized the heartfelt friendship among the three nations. He also praised the long-standing historical, cultural, and spiritual ties that bind Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkiye.

Highlighting shared solidarity on issues such as Kashmir, Karabakh, and Northern Cyprus, PM Shehbaz remarked, “Our strength lies in our solidarity and mutual respect. These ties are forged not just through diplomacy but through centuries of shared values and sacrifices.”

He took the opportunity to criticize India for its baseless allegations in the recent Pahalgam incident, stating that New Delhi failed to provide credible evidence and rejected Pakistan’s offer for an international investigation.

President Ilham Aliyev echoed similar sentiments, stating that Azerbaijan had closely followed the recent tensions between Pakistan and India and stood in solidarity with its brotherly nation. “We would like to see dialogue in line with UN resolutions; this is the way forward,” he said.

PM Shehbaz also congratulated the Azerbaijani people on their Republic Day and acknowledged the leadership of President Aliyev in elevating Azerbaijan’s global standing. He similarly praised President Erdogan for diplomatically resolving the PKK issue, which he called a significant regional development.

Earlier, PM Shehbaz met President Aliyev for a bilateral dialogue and expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support amid the recent confrontation with India. Both sides agreed to expand strategic cooperation, including delegations focused on investment.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was also present during the high-level meetings.

The trilateral summit marked the third leg of PM Shehbaz’s four-nation diplomatic tour, which previously included visits to Turkiye and Iran. He is now set to travel to Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to participate in the International Conference on Glaciers.

In a social media message earlier today, PM Shehbaz stated, “Pakistan deeply values its close fraternal bonds with Azerbaijan — rooted in shared history, mutual trust and unwavering support for each other.”
