Sheikh Rasheed: Imran Khan Unfazed by £190 Million Case Verdict

Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed has stated that PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan remains calm and resolute despite the recent verdict in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Sheikh Rasheed shared details of his courtroom meeting with Imran Khan. "I kissed him, and he hugged me," Rasheed said, adding that the PTI founder expressed his faith in divine justice. According to Rasheed, Khan said, "Allah is great, He will help us," to which Rasheed responded with encouragement, predicting relief from the High Court and reciting a poetic verse: 'This is going on to make you high.'

Sheikh Rasheed emphasized that Imran Khan is not at all worried about the court's decision. The former minister also reiterated his belief in the importance of a judicial commission to investigate the case. He remarked, "If the judicial commission is not formed, the negotiations are over." However, he claimed to have no knowledge of any meeting between Barrister Gohar and the Army Chief.

The Verdict and Implications

The accountability court recently sentenced Imran Khan to 14 years in prison and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to 7 years in prison in the £190 million case. The court also imposed fines of Rs 1 million on Khan and Rs 5 million on Bushra Bibi.

The case, which has garnered significant public and political attention, pertains to the alleged misuse of funds linked to the Al-Qadir Trust. The verdict has sparked debates over judicial transparency and political accountability, with the PTI's supporters and leadership expressing concerns over perceived biases.

Political Reactions

Sheikh Rasheed’s comments add to the ongoing political discourse surrounding the case. The former minister, known for his fiery rhetoric and staunch support of Imran Khan, reiterated his trust in the judiciary’s higher forums to provide relief.

As the case unfolds, it continues to shape Pakistan’s political landscape, with growing calls for judicial reforms and increased scrutiny of high-profile corruption cases.
