Talal Chaudhry Condemns Chaos in Punjab Assembly, Urges Discipline in Parliament

Minister of State Talal Chaudhry has strongly condemned the recent uproar and verbal abuse in the Punjab Assembly, stating that the legislative forum is being reduced to an “arena for insults” rather than fulfilling its constitutional role.

Speaking to the media, the PML-N leader criticized the opposition’s conduct, which he said included verbal abuse and physical aggression, including “grabbing collars.” He said that the Constitution and parliamentary norms do not permit such disorderly behavior.

Chaudhry backed the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, who has taken a strong stance by referring the involved members to the relevant authorities. “This is the first step towards restoring dignity to the assembly,” he remarked.

He further claimed that during the PTI government, the Punjab Assembly operated without standing committees, which he described as a “mockery of the legislative process.”

Commenting on the broader state of governance, Talal Chaudhry took aim at the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, alleging that no significant welfare schemes have been initiated, infrastructure is crumbling, corruption is on the rise, and citizens are deprived of basic healthcare.

He stressed that discipline and respect for parliamentary procedures are vital for the smooth functioning of democracy. “Without basic decency, Parliament will cease to represent the people and become a stage for political theatrics,” he warned.

Chaudhry concluded by saying that democratic institutions can only thrive when all political forces uphold their constitutional responsibilities and act with maturity and respect.
