Tehran to Host Afghan Neighbors Conference on Terrorism Threats

A conference of Afghan neighbors focusing on the potential threats of terrorism originating from Afghanistan is scheduled to take place in Tehran tomorrow, according to sources familiar with the arrangements.

The session will see participation from key regional actors. From Pakistan, Special Representative Mohammad Sadiq and Pakistani Ambassador to Kabul Obaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani will attend, while Pakistani Ambassador to Tehran Mudassar Tipu will also be present.

Other high-level participants include Russian Special Representative Zamir Kabulov, Chinese Special Representative Yu Xiaowang, and representatives of the presidents of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi is expected to address the session, which aims to discuss regional security concerns, the risks of terrorism, and measures to enhance cooperation among neighboring countries. A joint statement is anticipated at the conclusion of the conference.

The gathering highlights the growing emphasis among Afghanistan’s neighbors on collaborative approaches to security challenges, particularly in the context of ongoing instability and the threat of extremist activities emanating from Afghan territory.
