Three Miners Die of Poisonous Gas in Balochistan’s Mach Coal Mine

A tragic incident struck the coal mining community on Tuesday when three miners lost their lives after poisonous gas filled an underground coal mine in the Degari area of Mach tehsil, Bolan district.

According to rescue officials, the workers were carrying out their routine tasks deep inside the mine when toxic gas suddenly accumulated, causing them to lose consciousness. Despite efforts, all three miners died on the spot due to suffocation.

Authorities confirmed that one of the deceased belonged to Hazara Town, Quetta, while the other two were residents of Alamdar Road, Mariabad, both areas home to many members of the Hazara community.

Following the incident, the local administration, rescue teams, and mine inspectors rushed to the site. Chief Inspector of Mines and Minerals Abdul Ghani personally reviewed the accident scene and began an initial assessment of its causes.

Coal mine accidents remain a recurring tragedy in Balochistan, where inadequate safety measures, outdated equipment, and poor ventilation systems continue to put workers at grave risk. Labor rights groups have repeatedly called for stricter enforcement of safety regulations to protect miners who risk their lives daily in hazardous conditions.

This latest incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by Balochistan’s coal miners, as grieving families await answers and accountability.
