Trump Announces Ceasefire Between Pakistan and India

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Pakistan and India have agreed to an immediate and complete ceasefire following heightened tensions and military escalation over recent days.

Posting on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), President Trump confirmed that both countries had expressed their readiness to halt hostilities after intense diplomatic engagement by the United States throughout the night.

“After overnight talks, both Pakistan and India have agreed to a complete ceasefire. I congratulate both nations for showing wisdom and putting peace first,” Trump stated in his post.

The announcement comes after a series of military strikes, retaliatory operations, and cyber offensives that brought South Asia to the brink of a broader conflict. Tensions had soared following missile attacks, destruction of military installations, and cyber disruptions in both countries.

President Trump emphasized that his administration worked diligently behind the scenes to de-escalate the situation, engaging in urgent dialogue with both Islamabad and New Delhi.

“The U.S. is grateful for the constructive approach shown by both nations. Attention to this critical issue and willingness to cooperate is commendable,” he added.

The ceasefire agreement was later confirmed by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who stated that diplomatic efforts led to mutual understanding and a halt in military operations. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Masri also acknowledged the agreement, confirming a stop to military activity on both sides.

This successful mediation marks a significant moment for international diplomacy and offers hope for regional stability in South Asia. Observers now wait to see whether the ceasefire holds and if it can lead to broader peace talks between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
