Two Convicted in Human Trafficking Case, Sentenced to 33 Years and Rs. 18.18 Million Fine

Two individuals have been sentenced to thirty-three years in prison and fined Rs. 18.18 million by Special Judge Central One Muhammad Naeem Sheikh. The sentencing follows their conviction for trafficking a citizen with the intent to send him to Italy but instead imprisoning and torturing him in Libya.

The accused, who were involved in a human trafficking racket, had initially demanded Rs. 3.25 million to facilitate the victim's journey to Italy. However, instead of fulfilling their promise, they detained the victim in Libya, subjecting him to severe torture. The traffickers then demanded a ransom from the victim’s family, which they paid in exchange for his release.

Despite receiving the ransom, the accused did not release the victim and instead continued to hold him captive. The incident came to light when the victim’s family lodged a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), leading to a case being registered under the Human Trafficking Act.

The accused, during investigations, admitted to their crimes, and their actions led to this legal outcome. The FIA acted swiftly upon receiving the complaint from the family of the missing citizen, ensuring that justice was served. The conviction and penalty serve as a strong deterrent against human trafficking and exploitation in the region.
