POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq revealed that American lawmakers who recently visited Pakistan did not mention the name of PTI founder Imran Khan during their visit. He made the statement while speaking to the media in Islamabad on Monday.
According to Sadiq, during a meeting with the visiting US delegation, he extended an invitation to PTI’s Barrister Gohar and Chief Whip Aamir Dogar for dinner but deliberately excluded PTI leaders Atif Khan and Dr. Amjad. He noted that the meeting offered PTI representatives a chance to engage in dialogue with the US officials, from whom they often seek international support.
Sadiq emphasized that the three visiting members of the US Congress made it clear they had no involvement in Pakistan’s internal political affairs. “They didn’t even mention Imran Khan,” he stated, countering claims that international actors were influencing Pakistan's domestic political landscape.
In addition to political matters, Ayaz Sadiq touched on international humanitarian concerns. He announced his participation in an upcoming conference in Turkey on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The conference, organized by Turkey, has invited a select number of speakers to highlight the ongoing violence against Palestinians.
"Pakistan will present its stance at the Gaza conference. Just as we raise our voice for Kashmir, we also stand with Palestine. The children and women being martyred in Gaza demand attention from the world," he said.
Sadiq also expressed disappointment in the global Muslim community, stating, “The Muslim Ummah has not been able to play the role it should have played in supporting Palestine.”
His comments come amid growing regional instability and concerns over Pakistan’s political direction, as the country continues to navigate complex diplomatic relationships and internal challenges.
