Security forces have killed at least 67 terrorists in ongoing operations after coordinated attacks at multiple locations across Balochistan were foiled, state media reported on Saturday. Authorities confirmed that operations are continuing in several areas to eliminate remaining threats and secure the province.
Earlier, security sources revealed that terrorists linked to Fitna-al-Hindustan attempted attacks at 12 locations across Balochistan. However, timely and effective action by police, Frontier Corps (FC), and other law enforcement agencies successfully thwarted all attempts.
According to state-run PTV News, the confirmed death toll of terrorists killed in operations launched since Saturday morning has reached 67. Security sources further stated that 41 terrorists were killed over the past two days in Panjgur and the Shaban area of Harnai district, bringing the total number of terrorists eliminated across the province to 108.
During the operations, 10 police and security personnel embraced martyrdom while confronting the attackers. Authorities expressed deep sorrow over the loss and paid tribute to their sacrifice.
Security sources also reported that terrorists killed 11 civilians in Gwadar, including five men, three women, and three children. All terrorists involved in the incident were subsequently neutralised. Further operations are underway to clear suspected hideouts in surrounding areas.
Mobile phone services remained functional in several districts, though mobile data services were temporarily suspended in Quetta, Sibi, and Chaman following the attacks.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti stated that security forces had killed around 70 terrorists across the province in the past two days. He praised the courage of police and FC personnel, asserting that such attacks would not weaken the state’s resolve to eradicate terrorism.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar described the attacks as a “desperate move” by terrorists facing imminent defeat. He confirmed that security forces remained alert and fully prepared at all locations, adding that aerial surveillance and intelligence-based operations were ongoing.
Emergency measures were imposed across government hospitals in Balochistan to ensure immediate medical treatment for those injured in the attacks. Operating theatres were placed on high alert, and additional medical staff were deployed.
Separately, police in Nasirabad district neutralised an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on a railway track, averting potential damage. Explosive materials were recovered and handed over to the Counter-Terrorism Department for investigation.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for foiling the coordinated attacks and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to continue operations until terrorism is completely eradicated from the country.
Authorities stressed that peace in Balochistan would not be compromised and that operations against terrorist networks and their facilitators would continue with full force.
