Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Friday held a high-level meeting with Turkiye’s Chief of General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Bayraktaroglu was welcomed with a guard of honour by a smartly turned contingent of the Pakistan armed forces upon his arrival.
The discussion focused on matters of mutual interest, the prevailing regional and global security landscape, and avenues to strengthen bilateral defence and military cooperation. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the current trajectory of Pakistan-Turkiye relations and emphasized the importance of close coordination in defence collaboration.
CDF Munir highlighted the longstanding brotherly relationship between the two countries, rooted in shared history, mutual trust, and strong people-to-people ties. He acknowledged the support and cooperation extended by the Turkish armed forces and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing military-to-military relations.
General Bayraktaroglu expressed gratitude for the warm reception and lauded the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces. He also reaffirmed Turkiye’s commitment to deepening defence cooperation through joint exercises, training programs, and capacity-building initiatives.
“The visit reflects the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye and their shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and security,” the ISPR statement concluded.
This meeting comes at a time of heightened focus on regional security dynamics, emphasizing the role of close bilateral ties in fostering stability in South and Central Asia.
