Security sources on Friday clarified that no full-scale military operation is currently taking place in the Tirah Valley, stressing that intelligence-based operations (IBOs) are being carried out to dismantle terrorist and seditious networks in the area.
Security officials briefed media representatives in Karachi, stating that Tirah Valley has emerged as a nexus of terrorist elements, Khawarij militants and what they described as foreign-backed seditious forces. They said targeted intelligence-led actions were underway to eliminate these threats.
According to security sources, claims of a major military operation in Tirah were part of “false and baseless propaganda” aimed at creating confusion and unrest. Officials said the ground reality was limited, precise operations based strictly on intelligence inputs.
“These operations are being conducted against terrorists on the basis of credible intelligence and will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated,” the sources said.
The officials also highlighted advancements in Pakistan’s defence capabilities, stating that the country has achieved self-reliance in drone technology. In light of evolving regional and global conflicts, security agencies are also actively working on modern anti-drone systems, they added.
Security sources said that the nexus between terrorists and criminal elements had been exposed, and attempts to exploit public grievances for violent activities had failed. They added that people, particularly in Balochistan, had identified elements involved in terrorism who sought to justify violence by raising slogans of deprivation.
The briefing reiterated that security forces remain committed to maintaining peace and stability through intelligence-based measures, while countering misinformation related to security operations.
