POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Mahmood Achakzai, has stated that the health of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is not as severe as it is being portrayed.
Speaking to the media after a joint meeting of the political committees of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and allied parties, Achakzai said he could confidently claim that Imran Khan’s health condition was being exaggerated.
He remarked that while a protest had been announced, narratives regarding the PTI founder’s illness were simultaneously being circulated among party workers. According to Achakzai, such developments appeared to be diverting attention away from the opposition’s primary political objectives.
“We have no enmity with anyone,” Achakzai said, adding that the opposition’s struggle was being deliberately shifted away from its actual goal.
He stressed that the opposition’s core demands include the establishment of an independent Election Commission and the holding of transparent general elections. Achakzai further emphasised that all state institutions must function within their constitutional boundaries.
Calling for national reconstruction, he said Pakistan could only move forward if constitutional principles were upheld and democratic processes were restored.
