Adil Raja Ordered to Apologize and Pay £310,000 in UK Defamation Case

Former army officer and YouTuber Adil Raja, currently based in the UK, has been ordered by a High Court judge to publicly apologize to Brigadier (retd) Rashid Naseer and pay £310,000 in damages and court costs by December 22.

The judgment, delivered by High Court Judge Richard Spearman KC, also requires that the apology remain visible on Adil Raja’s X, Facebook, YouTube, and website pages for 28 days. Additionally, a restraining order prohibits Raja from repeating the defamatory statements in the future.

This follows Raja’s loss in an October defamation case, in which the judge declared his allegations against Brigadier Naseer baseless. Raja had requested permission to appeal the October decision, which the court rejected.

The £310,000 sum includes £50,000 in damages to Brigadier Naseer and £260,000 in court costs, with additional court costs to be assessed later. Raja has stated that he intends to challenge the latest ruling in the Court of Appeal. His lawyers confirmed plans to proceed with the appeal as well.

Brigadier Rashid Naseer attended the court to hear the judgment, while Raja was represented by his legal team. The case has garnered significant attention due to Raja’s prominence as a YouTuber and former army officer, as well as the high-profile nature of the defamation allegations.

The court’s decision reinforces legal accountability for online statements and social media posts that harm reputations, highlighting the importance of evidence in defamation claims in the UK.
