Army Chief General Asim Munir Visits Wana, South Waziristan, Reviews Security and Development Efforts

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir visited the Wana region of South Waziristan, where he received a comprehensive briefing on the current security landscape, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, and various development projects underway in the area.

 

Upon his arrival, General Munir was warmly welcomed by the Corps Commander Peshawar, who briefed him on the region's strategic importance and security challenges. In a solemn tribute to those who lost their lives in the line of duty, the Army Chief laid a wreath at the Martyrs' Memorial, honoring the sacrifices of the security forces.

 

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir engaged with officers and soldiers during his visit, commending their high morale and readiness to confront any threats posed by adversarial forces. He reiterated the Pakistan Army's commitment to counter any plans devised by enemy forces and their facilitators.

 

The Army Chief expressed his admiration for the selfless contributions of security forces and law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and stability in the region. He assured that the Pakistan Army would continue to provide technical support and full cooperation to law enforcement agencies, particularly the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, in their operations against terrorism.

 

General Munir acknowledged the critical role played by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in fostering peace and advancing various initiatives under the South Waziristan Integrated Development Plan. He emphasized the Army's unwavering support for the development and prosperity of the local population, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in the fight against terrorism.

 

The Army Chief also expressed gratitude to tribal elders for their steadfast support in the ongoing struggle against terrorism and their cooperation with the Pakistan Army. His visit underscores the military's dedication to ensuring security and development in South Waziristan, a region historically impacted by conflict.
