Pakistan and Tajikistan Pledge Enhanced Defense Cooperation Amid Regional Security Talks

Pakistan and Tajikistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defense ties and regional security cooperation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Syedzoda Babujon Abdul Qadir, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan and First Deputy Minister of Defense, visited the Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi. During his visit, he held a high-level meeting with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC).

The meeting focused on the evolving security dynamics of the region and mutual strategic interests. Both sides emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration to address shared challenges, particularly in counterterrorism, border security, and regional stability.

ISPR noted that General Mirza warmly welcomed the visiting dignitary, who in turn praised the professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.

“The discussions underscored the deep-rooted brotherly ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan and their shared resolve to advance defense cooperation,” the statement said.

Upon arrival at the Joint Staff Headquarters, Major General Syedzoda was presented with a guard of honor by a smartly turned-out tri-services military contingent — a symbolic gesture of the longstanding military camaraderie between the two nations.

This visit reflects the growing military diplomacy between Pakistan and Central Asian states, as regional connectivity and strategic collaboration continue to gain importance amid a shifting geopolitical landscape.
