The Prime Minister has forwarded a summary to the Presidency approving the appointment of Field Marshal Asim Munir as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) as well as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), consolidating the leadership of Pakistan’s armed forces under his command.
In a related development, the government has also granted a two-year extension to the tenure of Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, which will come into effect after the completion of his current five-year term in March 2026.
