POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Documents concerning objections to the nomination of the opposition leader in the National Assembly have been officially submitted to the Speaker’s Office in Islamabad.
Advisor to the National Assembly, Muhammad Mushtaq, received the documents and confirmed that a formal response has been received for the first time, allowing the process to move forward.
Barrister Gohar clarified that no case related to the opposition leader is currently pending in any court. Following this, Advisor Mushtaq announced that the post of opposition leader will now be declared vacant, and all opposition members will be instructed to submit their papers for the position.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have also urged that the notification for the opposition leader be issued without delay. Advisor Mushtaq stated that the selection process will be completed in a transparent manner, in accordance with all legal and constitutional requirements.
This move aims to clarify the legal status of the opposition leader’s post in the National Assembly and ensure the proper constitutional process is followed.
