Eight Terrorists Killed in Intelligence-Based Operation in North Waziristan

Eight terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as confirmed by the military’s media affairs wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operation, which took place last night, targeted the reported presence of terrorists in the region, resulting in an intense exchange of gunfire.

According to the ISPR statement, the security forces successfully "sent to hell" eight terrorists after the fierce confrontation. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists, who had been actively involved in attacks on security forces and the targeting of innocent civilians.

"Khariji" Designation for Terrorists
While the press release did not explicitly name the group involved, it follows the government’s recent designation of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as Fitna al Khawarij, a term now used to describe those responsible for terrorist activities in Pakistan. The designation, made official in July, aims to underscore the government's commitment to tackling terrorist threats.

Ongoing Operations Against Terrorism
Security forces continue to conduct "sanitization" operations in the area to ensure that any remaining militants are eliminated. The military remains determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from Pakistan, especially in the wake of increasing attacks on security personnel in regions like Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Tributes to Security Forces
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the forces, applauding their bravery and swift action. "Salute to the brave soldiers of the security force," he remarked on social media. Naqvi emphasized the importance of such operations in maintaining the safety and security of Pakistan.

Escalating Violence and Recent Incidents
Pakistan has witnessed a significant rise in attacks targeting security forces, particularly in the northwestern region of the country. In August, three soldiers were martyred, and five terrorists were killed during an infiltration attempt at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur. Just earlier this month, four terrorists were killed while attempting to attack the Frontier Corps headquarters in Mohmand district.

More recently, on September 20, six soldiers were martyred and 12 terrorists killed in encounters in North and South Waziristan, underscoring the ongoing battle against militant groups.
