Epstein Called Imran Khan a “Major Threat to Peace” in Newly Released 2018 Emails

Disgraced American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein described former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan as a significant “threat to peace” just days after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) victory in the 2018 general elections, according to newly released email exchanges made public by US House Democrats.

The emails — released by the US House Oversight Committee as part of an ongoing review into Epstein’s extensive network — show Epstein discussing global political developments with an unidentified individual on July 31, 2018. The messages reveal that the pedophile financier not only viewed Imran in a highly negative light but placed him among what he claimed were the world’s most destabilising political figures.

In the exchange, Epstein initially commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin, writing that Putin had been “kind so far” and sarcastically referring to the US habit of involving itself in foreign elections. Minutes later, Epstein escalated his criticism by comparing multiple global leaders, writing:
“[Putin] hasn’t pointed out assassinations to overthrow [governments] … coup funding … Imran [Khan] in Pakistan, a much greater threat to peace than [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan, Khomeini, [China’s President] Xi or Putin.”

The recipient questioned Epstein’s assessment, asking whether he meant “the populist in Pakistan???” Epstein doubled down, replying only: “Really bad news.” When the person asked how Imran could be worse than Islamists, Epstein responded:
“Makes Donald look like Einstein. Incapable of truth. Devout Islamist [sic].”

Epstein continued with a string of personal allegations, referencing Imran’s marriages and claiming he had forced one spouse to convert. He added:
“He is a cricket captain. Not a chess player, but he’s good at rousing the crowd.”

The conversation, full of conspiratorial tones and personal attacks, went silent for nearly 40 minutes before shifting to other unrelated topics.

Imran Khan’s Public Image and Social Media Reaction

Imran Khan — widely regarded as one of cricket’s greatest all-rounders — transitioned into politics after years of high-profile celebrity life, socialite circles, and global recognition. As the emails resurfaced online, social media users began circulating an old Shutterstock photo showing Imran with British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell at a 1990 event.

Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate, is serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted in 2021 for assisting Epstein in the sexual abuse of underage girls.

Epstein’s Expanding Web of Global Connections

The latest email batch highlights the extraordinary reach of Epstein’s associations, linking him to figures across global politics, including US President Donald Trump’s advisers and former UK royal Prince Andrew. Some of the released emails suggest that Trump was aware of Epstein’s abuses, with one message stating the US president “knew about the girls,” a claim Trump has repeatedly denied.

The US House of Representatives is expected to vote next week on efforts to compel the release of years’ worth of sealed evidence gathered on Epstein — including the identities of powerful individuals suspected of involvement in his alleged sex trafficking ring.

Former president Donald Trump has dismissed the renewed transparency push as a political “hoax”, while simultaneously demanding investigations into others tied to Epstein, including former US president Bill Clinton.

The documents released so far span 2009 to 2019 — the year Epstein died by suicide in a Manhattan detention centre while awaiting trial for sex trafficking of minors.
