The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has completed its departmental accountability process, taking decisive actions against several officers and officials in connection with multiple cases.
During the investigation into the Greek boat incident and other matters, a number of senior officers were dismissed, including the Deputy Director and two Assistant Directors of Karachi Airport, as well as an Assistant Director of Faisalabad Airport. In addition, the Deputy Director of Multan Airport faced a reduction in rank and salary over suspected involvement in human trafficking.
Two senior investigators and an assistant administrator were dismissed due to substandard investigations, while four assistant directors and an inspector had their salaries reduced. Appeals submitted by six sub-inspectors and one ASI were rejected, and their dismissals upheld. Similarly, appeals by three head constables, five constables, and an LDC were denied. However, the punishment of withholding promotion for a Superintendent and Sub-Inspector was revised to a censure.
Officials have highlighted that this accountability exercise reflects FIA’s commitment to strengthening discipline and internal procedures within the institution. It is seen as a crucial step towards ensuring that officers maintain high standards of professionalism and integrity in their duties.
The move underscores the agency’s resolve to enforce accountability at all levels, sending a clear message that negligence, misconduct, or involvement in illegal activities will not be tolerated.
