Five Killed, Three Injured in Chaman Taxi Stand Explosion

At least five people lost their lives and three others sustained injuries after an explosion ripped through a border taxi stand in Chaman, Balochistan, officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to the Assistant Commissioner, the blast occurred when explosive material hidden inside passenger luggage detonated at the busy taxi stand near the Pak-Afghan border. Panic gripped the area as bystanders rushed to help the victims.

Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies swiftly reached the site. The injured and bodies of the deceased were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for medical treatment and identification.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of those responsible for planting the explosive device. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the motive and perpetrators behind the attack.

The incident has once again raised concerns over security at the Pak-Afghan border, where thousands of people and goods transit daily. Officials are expected to review safety protocols to prevent future tragedies.

This explosion marks another violent incident in Balochistan, a province often affected by militant attacks and cross-border tensions.
