IHC Grants Police Another Week to Trace Missing NCCIA Deputy Director

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday granted police another seven days to locate the missing deputy director of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Muhammad Usman, who was allegedly abducted earlier this month.

The development came during the hearing of a petition filed by Usman’s wife, Rozina Usman, seeking his recovery. She claimed that four armed men kidnapped her husband on October 14. At the previous hearing, the IHC had given police three days to trace the missing official.

Justice Muhammad Azam Khan presided over the hearing and questioned police about their progress. “What is the progress? You were given three days,” the judge asked.

District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Legal Sajid Cheema informed the court that investigations were still underway and being supervised by the senior superintendent of police (SSP) investigation. He added that the missing official was part of the team investigating a high-profile case involving YouTuber Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai.

“The rest of the people investigating this case are also missing,” Cheema revealed, adding that the case was being handled by a Lahore police station.

The DSP further stated that according to available data, the petitioner, Rozina, was last traced between Lahore and Islamabad until October 18, with her phone switched off afterward. “When the investigating officer went to her house, it was found locked,” he said, noting that Muhammad Usman’s last known location was Islamabad’s F-6 sector.

“If the WhatsApp data is found, everything will be known,” the DSP suggested.

Meanwhile, the petitioner’s lawyer, Rizwan Abbasi, expressed concern that his client was also missing after filing the plea. He informed the court that the last call Rozina received included threats to withdraw her petition.

Justice Khan remarked that Rozina might be staying with relatives but asked the lawyer if she had gone willingly. “A person was kidnapped from the federal capital; ten days have passed,” Abbasi responded.

The court directed police to retrieve Muhammad Usman’s WhatsApp records to aid the investigation. Accepting the police’s request for additional time, the IHC granted another week for the recovery of the missing NCCIA officer and adjourned the hearing until next Friday.
