POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to pay special attention to his province to address the pressing problems faced by the people.
While speaking to the media, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that Jamaat-e-Islami stands with affected communities and demanded the immediate implementation of the 37 points agreed upon between the government and the jirga.
He remarked that the Taliban were brought into the area by themselves, the consequences of which are now evident. He criticized the ongoing operations, saying that while CM Afridi claims the operation is against his will, agreements are being executed by the commissioner, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
The JI leader also expressed concern over the federal government’s silence and emphasized the need for meaningful talks with Afghanistan, warning that external actors like the US and India benefit from the tensions, while the local population suffers due to border closures.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman highlighted unrest in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, citing a lack of employment opportunities as a driver of growing instability. He called for timely local government elections, criticizing provincial representatives for being powerless.
Turning to Karachi, he criticized the PPP, accusing it of maintaining a mafia system in the city over the past 17 years and alleging that Jamaat-e-Islami’s mayoralty had been seized illegally.
Concluding his remarks, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman urged the rulers to correct their Qibla and insisted that CM Sohail Afridi should focus on his province to resolve the hardships faced by the people.
