The Chief of Defence Forces of the Maldives, Major General Ibrahim Hilmi, visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he met with the Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral defense cooperation and the regional security situation. Matters of mutual interest were also deliberated in detail.
The ISPR statement highlighted that both General Asim Munir and Major General Hilmi expressed satisfaction over the enduring bonds of friendship between Pakistan and the Maldives.
Strengthening Cooperation
The two leaders emphasized their common perspectives on significant regional issues and reiterated the importance of expanding mutual defense cooperation.
Major General Hilmi commended the professionalism and dedication of the Pakistan Army, acknowledging its contributions to peace and security.
Hungarian Deputy Defense Minister's Visit
In a related development, Hungarian Deputy Defense Minister Thomas Varga visited the Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi and met with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
