Mobile Phone Service Suspended in Rawalpindi and Quetta for 12 Rabi'ul Awwal Celebrations

Mobile phone service has been partially suspended in Rawalpindi and Quetta as part of heightened security measures for the occasion.

 

In Rawalpindi, mobile phone service is limited to the main procession route and its adjoining areas. The Deputy Commissioner and CPO Rawalpindi conducted site visits to review the security arrangements for the event. The procession, which began with Pir Sarkar of Akalgarh inaugurating it, is set to traverse Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazar, and conclude at Jamia Masjid Road late at night.

 

To ensure the safety of the event, extensive security measures have been implemented. Over 5,000 police officers and security personnel are on duty, covering 108 processions, including the main one. More than 2,400 officers are specifically assigned to the main procession, while the remaining 2,600 officers are responsible for the other 107 processions. Streets, roads, and various routes along the procession path have been sealed to facilitate smooth and secure movement.

 

Similarly, in Quetta, mobile phone service has been suspended to maintain security during the 12 Rabi'ul Awwal celebrations. The main procession, which commenced from Bacha Khan Chowk, will proceed through traditional routes to its designated endpoint. The administration has ensured that adequate security arrangements are in place to safeguard participants and maintain order.

 

These measures reflect the authorities' commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly celebration of 12 Rabi'ul Awwal, a significant date in the Islamic calendar commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.
