POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

The National Assembly of Pakistan has unanimously passed a resolution condemning Indian aggression following rising tensions between the two countries. The resolution, presented by Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, called for a firm stand against India’s actions.
The resolution condemned all forms of terrorism and rejected India’s accusations against Pakistan. It further warned that if Pakistan’s water supply was blocked, it would be regarded as a declaration of war. The resolution also highlighted India’s history of sponsoring terrorism across various regions and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
The Law Minister, Azam Nazir Tarar, moved a motion to suspend the regular parliamentary agenda from May 5 to 8 to allow for detailed discussions on the increasing tensions with India. This motion was approved, with lawmakers emphasizing the importance of national unity during such critical times.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, reiterated that Pakistan remains a peaceful nation, despite the numerous sacrifices it has made in the fight against terrorism. He emphasized that Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms, including state-sponsored terrorism, and called for a transparent investigation into the Pahalgam attack.
