Pakistan Moves to Tighten Action Against Fake-Document Travelers

Pakistan has decided to intensify its crackdown on individuals attempting to travel abroad using fake or incomplete documents. The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Ministers Mohsin Naqvi and Chaudhry Salik Hussain, where multiple reforms aimed at safeguarding the country’s reputation were discussed.

During the meeting, officials agreed that the protector-issuing system must be made foolproof, and comprehensive reforms are needed in the immigration process. The ministers instructed concerned departments to submit final recommendations within seven days.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that an AI-based screening app will be launched as a pilot project in Islamabad starting January. The app will identify in advance which travelers are eligible to fly, ensuring that individuals previously deported do not obtain visas again.

He added that the National Police Bureau will issue a uniform international driving license, and strict zero-tolerance action will be taken against fake visas, fraudulent agents, and the visa mafia.

Authorities also emphasized ongoing contacts with foreign governments to improve the classification of Pakistani passports and reiterated that individuals attempting to travel through illegal channels will face firm action. The meeting further reviewed measures against illegal immigrants and those with incomplete travel documentation.
