Pakistan Warns Taliban: Choose Between Relations with Pakistan or Terror Groups

Pakistan has taken a firm stance against the Afghan Taliban, warning that the group must now decide whether it seeks constructive relations with Pakistan or continues to provide safe havens to terrorist organizations.

Officials in Islamabad expressed reservations over a recent report by the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan, noting that much of the information appears to rely on positions provided by Afghan Taliban officials. Pakistan raised concerns about the accuracy and balance of the report, saying it did not sufficiently include independently verified information.

According to Pakistan, the Afghan Taliban government maintains close ties with various terrorist groups and allows Afghan territory to be used for attacks against Pakistan. These attacks have claimed the lives of numerous civilians and security personnel, officials said.

Despite Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts through mediation by friendly countries, no significant progress has been achieved so far. Islamabad has therefore sent a clear message: the Afghan Taliban must now choose between building relations with Pakistan or sheltering terrorists.

The statement also highlighted the professionalism and precision of Pakistan’s counter-terrorism operations. Officials emphasised that all operations are based on verified intelligence, prioritise civilian safety, and target terrorist hideouts in remote areas to minimise collateral damage.

Pakistan further expressed concern that the Afghan Taliban government’s protection of terrorist elements allows these groups to maintain safe havens, threatening regional stability and Pakistan’s national security.

Attention was drawn to a recent terrorist attack in Miranshah, which caused casualties among civilians, including children. Pakistan urged the UN mission to report such incidents impartially to provide a balanced reflection of ground realities.

Despite these concerns, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to cooperate constructively with international partners, including the UN, to implement responsible and effective measures against terrorism and promote regional peace and stability.
