PTI Leaders Reveal Contact with Establishment, but No Dialogue: Gauhar and Swati's Statements

Barrister Gauhar Ali Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), confirmed that there had been contact with the establishment some time ago, but no formal dialogue took place. Gauhar expressed his belief that dialogue should occur in any case and lamented the lack of communication within political circles.

Speaking about the matter, Gauhar stated, "Some time ago, we had contact with the establishment, but there was never any dialogue in the contact. Dialogue should happen in any case. I definitely wish there was a dialogue." He emphasized that despite these sentiments, the PTI party policy still follows the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan.

This statement came amid remarks from Azam Swati, a senior PTI leader and former federal minister, who had earlier made shocking revelations on oath regarding the lack of dialogue in 2022. In his video message, Azam Swati mentioned that Imran Khan had instructed him to approach the army chief in 2022 to open the doors for dialogue. Swati also mentioned that Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, supported the idea of resolving disputes through talks as per Sharia law.

However, despite these efforts, Swati claimed that no doors for dialogue opened. He shared that he had tried to initiate communication through various intermediaries, including General Asim Munir’s teacher, Dr. Arif Alvi, and a well-known anchor, but the talks were unsuccessful.

In addition, Swati provided further details of his personal meeting with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. He explained that the meeting, which had been arranged by Dr. Babar Awan, had been brief, with Imran Khan asking about his health. Swati disclosed that he was being treated at the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology at the time.
