Punjab police officials have been warned against using their personal social media accounts to post offensive remarks about the state, government departments, and law enforcement agencies. A directive issued by the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of the police investigation branch instructs divisional police chiefs to monitor such activities and take strict legal action against violators.
According to the directive, it was discovered that some police officers were sharing highly offensive views on social media, prompting authorities to tighten surveillance. The AIG emphasized that such behavior constitutes professional misconduct and will result in strict departmental action.
Strict Monitoring Ordered
To ensure compliance, all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), including Rawalpindi RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa and City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, have been tasked with monitoring police personnel's social media activities in their respective areas.
The directive explicitly states that if any officer is found uploading inappropriate videos, posts, unlawful content, or making remarks against the police, government, or state institutions, immediate disciplinary action will be taken. The Punjab police have reiterated that no unlawful content targeting the state, legal bodies, or law enforcement agencies will be tolerated.
Previous Warnings Issued
The latest directive follows a similar warning issued in February this year, where police officials were reminded of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding social media conduct. Authorities continue to stress that violations will be met with strict consequences, reaffirming their commitment to upholding discipline within the force.
This move highlights the increasing focus on regulating the online presence of government employees, ensuring that public servants maintain a professional stance in digital spaces.
