Punjab Transporters End Strike After Successful Talks with Government

The Punjab government and transporters reached a successful agreement on Friday, leading to the end of the transport strike that had disrupted services across the province.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb led the talks with representatives of the transporters, where all key issues were resolved. Following the negotiations, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the formation of a high-level committee to address the ongoing challenges faced by transporters.

The committee, headed by Marriyum Aurangzeb, includes representatives from the transport sector. Its first meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, where the government and transporters will further discuss solutions.

The central president of the Goods Transport Alliance, along with other officials, signed a reconciliation resolution to formalize the agreement. Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that the government’s priority is to ensure human life protection and provide better conditions for citizens, emphasizing that problems will be resolved through mutual understanding.

Other notable transporter representatives participating in the negotiations included Muhammad Riaz Khan Tajik, Chaudhry Maqbool Hussain, Rana Tariq Mushtaq, Malik Ijaz, Malik Maroof, Saif Shah Din Gujar, Faisal Bashir Bhatti, Malik Javed, and Haji Pervez Awan.

The resolution of the strike is expected to restore smooth transport operations across Punjab and ease inconveniences for commuters and businesses alike.
