POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s political advisor, Rana Sanaullah, addressed a ceremony in Faisalabad on Saturday, commenting on the nation’s economic situation and the political climate.
Rana Sanaullah said that the common man is frustrated and upset due to inflation and poverty, but emphasized that the rising prices are not the government’s fault. “The government wants to reduce inflation, but the IMF did not allow it,” he stated, pointing to restrictions imposed by international financial institutions.
He also criticized the politics of hatred and conspiracies, claiming that such tactics have produced nothing beneficial for the country. “Whoever digs a pit for others falls into it himself,” he remarked, adding that attempts to malign others, including a government case of illegal heroin filed against him, have achieved nothing.
Rana Sanaullah took a swipe at opposition figures, saying, “During the era of those who raised slogans to end corruption, characters like Farah Gogi and Pinky Pirni emerged.” He argued that Pakistan’s international reputation has improved due to the government’s struggle for truth and highlighted India’s relative diplomatic setbacks.
According to Sanaullah, the respect Pakistan has gained on the global stage will positively impact the country’s economic conditions. He concluded by reiterating that the government is committed to addressing inflation, but external constraints limit its options.
