Rana Sanaullah Says Democracy Moves Through Talks, Not Deadlock

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said that politics and democracy can only progress through negotiations and dialogue, not through political deadlock and confrontation.

Speaking to the media, Rana Sanaullah said that political parties must sit together and discuss national issues in a constructive manner. He emphasized that dialogue is the only viable path forward for political stability and democratic continuity in the country.

He revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had extended invitations to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for negotiations on four separate occasions, but the party’s founder, Imran Khan, failed to respond positively.

“The prime minister has repeatedly invited PTI for talks, but there has been no constructive response,” Rana Sanaullah said. He added that Imran Khan’s political approach does not include negotiations and dialogue.

According to Rana Sanaullah, decision-making authority within PTI rests solely with its founder, and no other leader in the party is empowered to take independent political decisions. “Except for the founder of PTI, no one else in the party has the authority to decide,” he said.

He further alleged that Imran Khan is not interested in conventional politics and democratic engagement. “He does not want negotiations; he wants chaos,” Rana Sanaullah remarked, adding that meaningful talks with the government cannot be held under such circumstances.

Rana Sanaullah reiterated that political stability and democratic progress require maturity, dialogue and consensus, urging all political forces to prioritize national interests over confrontation.
