The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will visit Pakistan for an official visit on December 26 (Friday), the Foreign Office (FO) announced on Wednesday.

This will mark his second visit to Pakistan this year, following a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Rahim Yar Khan in January. However, Friday’s trip will be his first official visit as the UAE President.

During the visit, President Al Nahyan will review the full spectrum of bilateral relations with PM Shehbaz Sharif and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

“The visit will provide an important opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates,” the FO said. It added that the trip reflects the depth of bilateral relations and the shared commitment to boosting cooperation in trade, investment, energy, development, and regional stability.

Pakistan and the UAE share close diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties, reinforced by historical connections and a large Pakistani expatriate community in the Emirates. The UAE is one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners and a key source of remittances, while both countries collaborate on defense, energy, and investment projects. The UAE has frequently provided financial aid and humanitarian assistance to Pakistan.

Earlier this year, Pakistan and the UAE signed multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen bilateral ties. Two MoUs focused on cultural cooperation and establishing a joint committee for consular affairs, while a third MoU created the UAE-Pakistan Joint Business Council under the Federations of Chambers of Commerce of both countries.
