Security Forces Kill Three Burqa-Clad Terrorists in North Waziristan

Security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in the Datta Khel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, neutralizing three terrorists disguised in burqas, the military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced on Friday.

The operation took place during the night of February 6-7, 2025, targeting militants linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to as "Khwarij" by state authorities.

Swift Engagement and Recovery of Weapons

"During the operation, troops effectively engaged the location, resulting in three Khwarij being sent to hell as they attempted to escape in women’s attire (burqas)," the ISPR statement read.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the neutralized terrorists, who were reportedly involved in several violent activities in the region. A sanitisation operation is underway to eliminate any remaining threats.

The ISPR reaffirmed the security forces' commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country, emphasizing that operations will continue until the threat is entirely neutralized.

Escalating Terror Threats

The TTP has ramped up attacks since breaking a fragile ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022. The group has vowed to target security forces and police personnel.

Earlier this month, Balochistan witnessed a devastating day with 18 soldiers martyred and 23 terrorists killed during multiple sanitisation operations.

2024: A Deadly Year for Security Forces

Pakistan faced one of its deadliest years in 2024, with at least 685 security personnel martyred and 444 terror attacks recorded. Combined civilian and security losses stood at 1,612 fatalities, marking a 73 percent increase compared to the previous year. The total death toll hit a nine-year high, averaging nearly seven lives lost daily.

The ISPR's latest operation underscores the ongoing challenges in combating terrorism and highlights the resilience of security forces in safeguarding national security.
