Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui Steps Down as NIRC Chairman

Chairman of the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) and former Islamabad High Court judge, Justice (retd) Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, has resigned from his position citing personal reasons.

According to official sources, Justice (retd) Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui submitted his resignation by sending a formal notice to the President of Pakistan through the Secretary of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, seeking termination of his contract.

Justice Siddiqui, who previously served as a judge of the Islamabad High Court, was appointed as Chairman of the NIRC after his retirement from the judiciary. During his tenure, he oversaw matters related to industrial relations, labour disputes, and workers’ rights at the federal level.

No official statement has yet been issued regarding the acceptance of his resignation or the appointment of an interim or permanent replacement.

The National Industrial Relations Commission is a key statutory body responsible for adjudicating industrial disputes involving trans-provincial establishments and safeguarding the rights of employers and workers under labour laws.
