The Sindh government has announced a full-scale operation against robbers and bandits in the Kachha areas, with police and Rangers intensifying their crackdown. Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar stated that while the Sindh motorway is secure, the operation focuses on bandit-prone areas at the border with Punjab. He urged the Punjab government to take similar action against dacoits operating from their side.
Speaking in the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday, Home Minister Lanjar highlighted the significant improvement in Karachi’s law and order situation, noting that the city, once ranked 32nd among the most dangerous cities, is now safer for residents and visitors. “Except for the attack on a Chinese convoy, no major incident has occurred. We have also arrested suicide bombers and neutralized 11 robbers,” he said, praising the Sindh Police for their efforts.
The minister warned residents about scams in slum areas, particularly the so-called marriage frauds in Ghotki and Kashmore, advising people not to fall prey to honey-trapping schemes. In a lighter moment, he humorously cautioned a legislator against visiting the Kachha area, eliciting laughter in the assembly.
Meanwhile, in Shikarpur, police and Rangers conducted a drone-assisted operation against Kachha dacoits. The encounter at Manchar cemetery resulted in the deaths of 11 dacoits. Four personnel, including female DSP Paras Bakrai and her husband Zahoor Soomro, were injured during the firefight. The operation involved armored vehicles and was launched based on actionable intelligence received early in the morning.
Authorities have emphasized that the operation will continue until law and order is fully restored in the region, with drones, ground forces, and armored vehicles deployed to maintain a secure environment.
The crackdown reflects Sindh’s ongoing commitment to eliminate criminal networks in both urban and rural areas and ensure the safety of citizens across the province.
